While you are creating/editing your hub:
- When you point your arrow next to any text module, you will see a button that says "add".
- Click "add" and then click "eBay".
- When you click this, a new capsule will open up that says eBay.
- Click "edit" on the right of the eBay capsule.
- Under "eBay Search", type in a word or phrase to search for. it should be an item related to your hub topic.
If in your hub article you are writing about a book, then type in the name of the book or the author.
You can also put in the topic of the book- for example, if the book is about poverty, or whatever subject you are discussing that you want to sell.
- leave the Seller ID blank. (that's what I do, but if you specifically want to show from a specific seller, you can stick that in)
- click on "preview eBay results". if it says "no matching eBay items found", then that means that eBay doesn't have items matching that description, so you should put in a better search term. (see my ideas above).
- you can search for anything that they have on eBay. it's a good idea to use a search term that will show up a number of results. On the side of this hub, I did a search for hub-pages.
- when you preview the results, make sure that you get at least three results that you like. if you don't like the results, change the search terms.
- when you like the results, you can change how many results should display- under "maximum number of items to display", you can select between one and six items. (if you want more, add another capsule).
- there are rules on how many products you can display: for every 50 words in your article, you can display one product. so if you have 400 words in your article, you can display up to 8 products in that hub.
- when you are happy with the search term results and number of items, you can put in a capsule subtitle on top, or leave it blank.
- then click "save" to save your work, or "discard changes" if you botched it up and want to start over.
- the "eBay Search" will automatically default to the title of your hub, which may be perfect, or might not be. so make sure to change it to the products that you want to display.
- after you click "save", you will see the capsule and results on your hub.
You might need to move the capsule.
A selling product can not be the very first capsule on your hub, but you can put it next to your first text capsule, or you can put it below it or anywhere in the hub.
On the eBay capsule:
- click on the arrow pointing to the right to move it next to your other capsule.
- click on the arrow pointing downward, to move it further down.
- don't click on the "X", because that would delete the capsule.
More Options:
Another way to get the eBay capsule while editing your hub: On the upper right of the screen, it says "add more capsules". Over there, you can click on "eBay". This will add the capsule on the bottom of the hub, above the comments. You can then move the capsule using the arrows on it.
Another way to move the capsule is on the right side of the screen, below the listing of adding capsules there are several options. The first and default option says "reorder". There, you can click on any capsule and drag it to the place where you want it, or double-click to change the width of the capsule. Then scroll back to the left to see what you did and make any changes.
You can click "preview" on top to see what the hub will look like with the capsules. It is important to do this, because the hub will look different when it is published, and when the ads are placed it in it.
Feel free to add more capsules and text, and then "save unpublished" if you want to work on it later, or click "publish" to publish your hub.
More In Response to the Question
Don't be intimidated, it is really very easy to do.
You can go to ebay.com to see what products they have that are relevant, and then when you find things that you like, use broad search terms for it in your hub capsule.
This is better than choosing one product, because if the product goes out of stock, then you will have similar products in your capsule if you used a broader search term.
The ebay capsule is very convenient. I like to sprinkle other capsules in too, such as text, photo and amazon.
When visitors read your hub, they will see the ebay product. If they click on it to purchase the product, then you will have the option to earn. You can see your ebay earning reports under the "my account" button, under "earnings".
